Adam Frelin: A Stone Alone

Suspended from the ceiling in the entryway of The Mill is a massive circular object reminiscent of a weathered millstone. While its scale and implied weight feel imposing, its stone texture and slow rotation elicit a sense of calm.

Stephen Hendee: Buisine

Reminiscent of old rocks in the region, an organic horizontal band of polypropylene punctuates the north wall of the performance space. Mirroring the narrative as it unfolds on stage, the sculpture resonates the dynamic events with light.

Amy Ellingson

Brilliantly illuminating the Cathedral-like space where grain had previously been sifted and sorted, is a monumental stained glass window loosely referencing the room’s former function. Fabricated in collaboration with Franz Meyer of Munich, the magnificent imagery captures both the historical reference of 19th century American landscape painting and the digital language of early 1980s video games.

Ann Toebbe: Tornado Warning

Evoking the midwestern skies at the onset of a tornado, an emerald green glow is your guide through Ann Toebbe’s mother’s basement just as it must have been in 1985. Tornado Warning is a theatrical rendition of Toebbe’s childhood, in which you are the performer.

Jillian Mayer

Jillian Mayer’s Slumpies are a series of sculptures that position themselves as utilitarian objects. Slumpies acknowledge our ever-increasing relationship with technological devices, relieving us of the need to support our own bodies while we interface with the digital world.
